MEAGHAN DWYER – Cultural Captial
As cities grow and change over time it is inevitable that new roles are assigned to different parts of the urban fabric. How can this change be navigated in ways that build cultural capital? The nearly complete Melbourne Conservatorium of Music drawers threads from many of our past projects to create a vibrant place of education that is strongly connected with the community. This new building at once reflects past patterns of occupation and recalls history, in view of providing a connection to our past. It also consolidates the future of the Melbourne Arts Precinct and makes a significant contribution to the public life of our city.
