Dominic Russo possesses over 30 years’ design industry experience, working across a range of disciplines in the practice, management and leadership of design. Starting his career as an exhibition designer, Russo spent his founding years designing spaces, objects, point of sale and furniture products for corporate clients such as BMW, Telstra, GM Holden, and Nike.
Along with his co-founders, Russo is the entrepreneurial force behind Diadem, an integrated, multi-disciplinary brand implementation business that enables design in built and branded environments in Australia, across Asia Pacific and around the world. His diverse range of experience in design practice, strategic management, and leadership continues to be an asset to clients embarking on their own brand change.
For over 18 years Russo and his team have successfully collaborated with many of Australia’s renowned architects, graphic designers, and interior designers to design, develop and deliver many recognisable landmark projects. Central to his approach is the convergence of strategic, creative and technical aspects of design.
As Russo’s role has shifted from Design Director to CEO, so has his focus toward the business of design, which affords him the opportunity to work with many designers and corporate clients in a leadership capacity. A most noteworthy example of this is his ongoing commitment to the Design Institute of Australia, in which as former state president and national board member he was instrumental in Melbourne’s selection as partner for BODW 2018.
