Michael Wang has been with Marriott for over 20 years, and his current role is Senior Continent Head, Global Design Asia Pacific at Marriott International. He is responsible for design and project management related activities for all Marriott International portfolios of 30 brands (Luxury, Premium and Select) in Asia Pacific, and for the development and execution of strategies to effectively respond to the changing development and business needs of Marriott International brands in the region. Wang plays a strategic partner role advising the Marriott Continent leadership team on matters relating to brands, development strategy and new corporate initiatives that pertains to the discipline.
Wang joined Marriott International in 1997 as Director of Design & Project Management, Asia Pacific. In 2004, he was promoted to Vice President of Design and Project Management, Asia Pacific. In 2014, he was promoted to Continent Head of Global Design, Asia Pacific, when he led the Asia Pacific Continent Global Design teams including The Ritz-Carlton Asia Pacific Global Design team. Wang has led the growth of the continent from 16 hotels when he joined 21 years ago to 670 hotels today across 25 countries. During this time, he has successfully helped regionalize the department by setting up offices in Hong Kong, Mumbai, Shanghai, Singapore, Sydney and Tokyo to help support the rapid growth of new development in the continent.
